Established in 1830, Allens is Mayfair's oldest butcher. The shop, situated on Mount Street is a true find and a delight for meat lovers. Sides of beef hang in the windows to mature along with a variety of game birds, which are an Allens specialty. Renowned for supplying meat, game and poultry of superior quality, Allens remains an old fashioned butcher shop with tiled walls and octagonal butchers tables where friendly and knowledgeable staff prepare different cuts of meat.

Once a family business, Allens of Mayfair is now owned by Justin Preston and David House, both butchers by trade, who saved the ailing Allens from imminent closure when they bought it in spring 2006. Since then, Justin and David have turned the fortunes of Allens around, focusing on winning back the old customers and expanding both the retail and the wholesale sectors of the business. Allens of Mayfair supplies not only some of London's finest and best-loved hotels and restaurants, such as Claridges, The Dorchester, River Café, Zuma and Scott's but also delivers nationwide. Orders are taken over the telephone and deliveries take one to three days.

From the first grouse of the season to finest scotch beef and the best Bronze Christmas turkeys, Allens of Mayfair will continue to provide best quality meat, game and poultry for some time to come.
